WORTH THE UPGRADE? | Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G VR Review by Georges Cameras

The Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 was a huge hit, but the 24-70mm F2.8 VR wasn’t so much. We decided to have a look for ourselves at the Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G VR and give our thoughts on it.

  1. Good informative video, am in the market for a 24-70 for my D750, how does this compare to the Tamron G2, only ask as this seems bit 'in your face' for street photography which I enjoy ?

  2. Worst images one can shoot with this lens…Please try to be more creative when reviewing a lens like this…Your shootings are like an amateur's first time with a d3400 and even worse…

  3. No, it's not sharp. shoot that thing at 2.8 and it's atrocious. Not only is all the microcontrast gone, the images develop a slight haze across the whole frame. It doesn't get great until you stop down to 5.6. Spending 2k on a flagship lens, it should be decently sharp all the way open at 2.8, but it's not. I concur that the AF speed and accuracy, as well as the VR, is brutally good. But those things don't matter if the images aren't good. Even though the G version doesn't have VR, I had a MUCH higher keeper rate with the old lens.

  4. Ok so I just wanted to leave a comment. I’ve owned my Nikon 24-70G lens for about 2 years half. I decided yesterday that I would sell the older generation and get the new version. I have to say looking at the both aside. The newer is soo much heavier and bigger in all ways. But having the VR for shooting in events in low light has also greatly helped me. Yes it has a lot of negatives but I am still happy with my purchase. I hope it shouldn’t effect too much the sharpness as I have tested it prior to buying.
