I love stand-alone VR, but for me I hope in the future that all the games have a setting for seated players, Iam a disabled player who can only play seated and this stops me buying games I want to play because a lot of games just says just say standing and roomscale, I think oculus would double there games sold because I can’t believe Iam the only one in this possession.
If by future you mean PCVR will cease to exist then no, especially not with hybrids like the Quest platform. If by future you mean it'll be the main platform for most devs making their revenue then of course the answer is yes as it already is. Estimated the Q2 sold 2 million headsets in the 2.5 months it was out in 2020 and I wouldn't be surprised if the Q1 sold 1 mil before it was replaced. Nothing indicates the Q2 won't keep selling like crazy this year as well. Numerous devs have also stated how within weeks of releasing Quest ports that those ports have sold more than the lifetime of the games on PC.
Espire one is a better game than people give it credit for!
I still am siding with PC VR. Until a standalone is basically a full gaming pc I will pass!
In the very near future, the processing for vr gaming will be done on the cloud. There are already a couple cloud pc services that people are using to play pcvr games. Latency is still an issue, but 5g should go a long way towards solving that.
