Cosmodread Review (Quest & PCVR) | Best VR Game of 2021…so far

By

From the developer that brought us the horror gem that was Dreadhalls comes the follow up in the form of Cosmodread, a rogue lite action survival horror game in which you are abandoned on a derelict space ship, tasked with getting it powered on and back to earth. Explore, craft, fight and survive, Cosmodread looks to take what worked in Dreadhalls and combine it with games such as the Persistence and Alien Isolation. This game is totally my thing, so the hype is high for me. Stick with me while I tear it down and see if it delivers.

  1. this mans is cappin the game is AIGHT very poorly polished gameplay but decently scary atmosphere and enemies can give you a good scare. this is literally DeadSpace met fookin Granny or sum

  2. I feel like this is s game that needs a secret ending. Going back to earth with a strong infection onboard would give you the bad ending, but spending an ungodly amount of time to purge the ship would give you the safe "good" ending

Or maybe you could piss off the thing in space and bring it home with you…

  3. Having just played Cosmodread, I still think Dreadhalls was better. Personally Cosmodread's setup in space is a bit forgettable while Dreadhalls stone dungeon are memorable/classic to me.

  4. Did they pay for this? Come on man, the sound is random noise and monster sounds. The graphics are so-so muddy dark. The monsters are mindless and simplistic. It's not terrible, but like Dreadhalls itself, it's a simple game. If you removed the black and the jump scares, it would be a pretty boring game. Rogue-likes use perma-death to pad out what is otherwise a tiny game.

  5. I’m sure on the quest the blacks are going to be washed out from the LCD screen. That had to be my biggest gripe with the walking dead. But the game might be worth picking up solely on praise of the sound design

  6. The quality of this review is some of the best I've seen on YouTube. Thanks YouTube for recommend me this. Didn't take me a minute into the video before I subscribed to the channel 😃

  7. looks like a downgraded and muddy The Persistence to me. And when you see Zombieland you see the success of the Quest is really having a pernicious effect on "made for VR" games going from great like The Persistence or TWD Saints and Sinners to severely watered down and dull.

But hey, this got hand interactions! That's real VR! you can hold scenery props, interact with blue highlights things and do things that just shouldn't be in a space station, like sliding doors or a frigging crossbow just so you can use your hands all the time. Hey, at least they let you walk rather than swing around with plungers in chains…

sorry, but I already played a better Space horror rogue-lite before, I'll keep playing NMS and Hitman until psvr2 is here to save VR from mediocrity… I don't mind if you call me a fanboi. 😂

  8. In my opinion doom 3 on the quest is better. The developers at Dr. Beef did an amazing port of the full game, it’s 10 hours long, 5 dollars, and super easy to get. You can play it wirelessly and it has more variety. Cosmodread reminds me of it, but doesn’t look nearly as good as it.
