KTER Scoping Review: Pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities

By

The KTER Center recently developed two scoping reviews related to pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities, and job-related social communication skills of adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The research these reviews identified can inform vocational rehabilitation (VR) services to help clients succeed in getting jobs and keeping them. Tune in to these short, on-demand webcasts to hear the scoping reviews’ findings, methods, and implications for practice.

The objective of this scoping review was to identify studies related to pre-employment transition services the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) outlines. The review offers information that can inform the development of strategies for VR counselors seeking to help students with disabilities find and maintain employment. It focuses in particular on: job exploration, work-based learning, job exploration counseling, and self-advocacy.
