Oculus Quest 2 Review!

By

We’ve been testing the new Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset for about two weeks, and dive deep into its differences from the first Quest, Rift S, and other VR headsets. Here’s how it plays existing Quest games with its new processor and display, how it feels with the new Elite headstrap accessory, and what Quest 2 means for the Oculus mobile and PC VR ecosystems.

  1. Seemed like an interesting device but I definitely do not want facebook or any other intrusive social media to be part of my VR experience. No thanks! I am completely turned off by this product. I will not consider buying it.

  2. Must be logged into Facebook.
    "Jonny is online"
"Jonny is playing VR Paradise Gentlemen's Club"
"Jonny is playing Honey Select 2"
    "Jonny is playing Waifu Simulator"
Jonny just told his whole family, friends and colleagues that he's a total perv.

  3. 27:00 this is why I loose are respect for reviews because its idiots like this guy the ruin it for everyone. He is comparing a 1000 or 1500 headset to a 299 head set. its a 299 headset!!! if you get more for your money on a 299 headset and for pcvr its extremely good. The guy obviously has a stick up his arse to think alot of people in VR spend 1000 to 2000 on VR.

  4. It's a good thing I found out about a more powerful headset at a significantly lower price… 2 days after the Amazon return window on my Quest 1 ended. And that was after they made the announcement of mandatory Facebook account integration RIGHT AFTER I received the thing.

  5. While you might want to let another person use it, I don't think it's very necessary to have more than a 2.5 hour battery. I think at that point you would start to get tired or sick.

  6. Great review, super thorough. I am so disappointed, as a human business owner and parent that this gear has to be linked to a FB account. I will immediately begin making fake accounts for each of my quest2's that I sell to my clients. Just because it is the most comfortable and accessible gear doesn't mean they can make me be social. #markzuckerbergisadick

  7. Man I really wish the PC gameplay wasn't compressed on the Quest 2. I currently have a Rift. I love it, but I've been wanting something with higher res and a better mic. Maybe Quest 3 won't do compressed PC gameplay haha

  8. The biggest issue is that it do not have a microSD slot. Like 80% of the purpose for me is to watch own made 360 videos. Why not microSD slot?

Facebook is another issue, but i guess you can just create a fake account for just that purpose.

  9. The Elite headstrap with the battery DOES NOT support link pass-through unfortunately, at least according to Oculus' website right now. However I personally still think it's pretty solid value; if you were going to buy the carrying case, elite headstrap, and rig up a battery anyway, you would be spending nearly the same amount for a much less elegant experience. I'm sure third party accessories will provide some compelling competition to all of these accessories down the road but in terms of day 1 usability it seems worth it to me.
